We are proud to present Shiba Inu from the famous San Jo Kennel in the USA. Leslie Ann Engen has many years experience in the breed, she has concentrated on developing lines with correct Japanese form and temperament. Leslie has been instrumental in our start in the breed and has remained our mentor and good friend.

Although some people have come to expect Shibas to be aloof with strangers and sometimes dog aggressive, our Shibas are outgoing and gregarious. We feel that in today's society this is absolutely necessary. Our Shibas are happy willing workers who exude health and robust character. They do not shy away from people, they guard their property but welcome strangers once the strangers have been allowed inside our gate. Our Shibas socialize very well with other dogs, they enjoy playing with dogs of all sizes and are never aggressive. We would not breed a dog which exhibits a temperament flaw. This is so very important. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of the parents’ temperament when it comes to puppies. Puppies must indeed be socialized and encouraged, but so much is preordained through genetics and more still taught by the dam before the puppies ever leave the litter.

Geisha is our social butterfly; she loves people, she loves dogs, she loves life!! Geisha finished at seven months of age and started placing in group while still a puppy. She is a bright red with gorgeous movement and very correct conformation. In placing her at Canada’s Largest Dog Show (Tradex) in 2002 at the age of ten months, judge Mr. Robert Dawson called her “A beautiful example of the breed!”. Geisha exhibits a very strong retrieve instinct and is always willing to work.

Taz is a bright fire red. He is sweet, loyal, and loving. He also has quite a comical streak, playing tricks on his fellow pack members and stirring up crazy fun-filled races around the property! A beautifully steady boy when working, he shows tons of potential for the obedience ring. Taz recalls even when hot on the hunting trail. He runs with our full male Leonberger, Lar, with girls in heat on the other side of the fence. This degree of common sense and control mixed with his love of life, makes life with Taz easy, fun, and rewarding.

Sammy is a gorgeous "Taro" son out of our "Geisha". He finished his championship at six months and one week of age in only four days of showing!!! Never out of the Group placements: Group 2, 3, 4, and another Group 2 to finish. Four "Best Puppy in Groups" and two "Best Puppy in Shows" !!! As well as a "Best in All Breed Sweepstakes" and a "Best in All Breed Match".

The very day he turned six months old and was eligible to show, he won his first Group 2 and Best Puppy in Show. Quite a birthday present! This win was under Mr. William Taylor, an internationally respected judge who commented "A superb example of the breed and a very professional puppy! Wonderful temperament!".

Sammy attended the Evergreen Shiba Inu Regional Specialty in Kelso Washington, USA. At only six months of age, he took Winners Dog, Best of Winners, and Best Puppy in Specialty!!! A five point major under highly respected Shiba breeder/judge Mrs. Chris Levy. He defeated some incredible dogs, including his sire Taro, who took Reserve!!!

Sammy has eye-catching substance, correct proportions and construction, small ears and thick ear leather, a gorgeous head and plate, beautiful movement, and tons of charisma. He is also extremely social, loyal, and obedient. He is truly a blessing and a treasure!

Maiko is a very promising young Taro daughter out of Fumi. Fumi, an imported bitch, took Winners Bitch and Best Opposite Sex at the 2001 Nationals. She has also proven herself an incredible producer, whelping multiple American champions. Fumi combined with Taro to produce an amazing litter last year with her 6 month old puppies taking Breed and even Group in the USA! The repeat of this breeding produced Maiko who promises to continue the success. Maiko is spunky and quick witted, happy and social. She has beautiful presence and awesome movement...and she just loves to show herself off!

Misa, Geisha’s beautiful red daughter by Taro, now spends her days with Tammy Bayard and her best buddy, Brady the Labrador Retriever... as well as her two house-mate cats! She is so very sweet and smart as a whip. She started advanced obedience training while still a baby puppy!!

Bert is a real sweetheart!   Half-brother to Samurai, he is also a Taro son.    Absolutely true movement, deep dark eyes, and a quiet, loving demeanour.    He came to us as a eight month old and quickly displayed his potential as both dashing show dog and gentle family companion.
